Everything you need to know about Net Neutrality

June 3, 2014 By Greg Falken Leave a Comment

As is so often the case, the comedy shows tell the story clearly, with great examples and a clear call to action. Watch this clip from Last Week Tonight With John Oliver and you’ll laugh while wanting to cry.

RIP Springpad

May 24, 2014 By Greg Falken 2 Comments

SpringpadWell, this stinks. Springpad, the multi-platform app for collecting and organizing snippets of all kinds of content, is shutting down on June 25th. I’ve been using it for a number of years to store everything from meeting notes to recipes. Springpad has always been free to use and even though I and many other in the community would be more than willing to pay for their service, there is apparently no path to long term viability (or they’re being acquired, although this has been denied). So, they are turning out the lights.

I looks like I’ll have to find two replacements for Springpad, one for recipes and another for everything else. And both of them will probably be paid apps. For future start ups, please include long-term plans for funding your product into your roadmap, so that you can continue to support the community of users who come to rely on you.

New Home for Strawberry

New Home for Strawberry

May 16, 2014 By Greg Falken 2 Comments

For those who haven’t heard, the Strawberry office has announced the relocation of the Fall Strawberry Music Festival:

We are happy to announce that this year’s Strawberry Fall Music Festival will take place at…

Nevada County Fairgrounds In Grass Valley

——>On September 11th-14th<——

Please note the change in date. The festival is NOT taking place over Labor Day weekend, but will be held two weeks later, instead. We are very grateful to the kind staff at the Nevada County Fairgrounds for providing a beautiful sanctuary for our community to celebrate friends, family, laughter, and music! Fairground information can be found at www.NevadaCountyFair.com.

Here are a few photos of the facility (click to enbiggen), which is smaller than Camp Mather but hosts other events that draw crowds of about the same size, such as the KVMR Celtic Festival.

And so, a new era begins…
