For Those With Courage

For Those With Courage

October 8, 2014 By Greg Falken 1 Comment

Via MyMotherlode.com:

Yosemite, CA — Cal Fire has released more details about the S-2T air tanker that crashed while fighting the Dog Rock Fire near El Portal in Yosemite National Park.

As reported last night, the pilot of the air tanker died in the crash, but his name has not been released. Cal Fire reports NTSB officials are expected at the wreckage site this morning to begin their investigation of the crash.

Courage
by Amelia Earhart

Courage is the price which life exacts for granting peace.
The soul that knows it not, knows no release
From little things;

Knows not the livid loneliness of fear
Nor mountain heights, where bitter joy you can hear
The sound of wings.

How can life grant us boon of living, compensate,
For dull gray ugliness and pregnant hate
Unless we dare

The soul’s dominion? Each time we make a choice we pay
With courage to behold resistless day
And count it fair.

Update (10/16/14)

A fund has been set up to help the family of the pilot, Geoffrey “Craig” Hunt, of San Jose. Donations can be sent to:

Hollister Air Attack Base
For Benefit of (FBO) Craig Hunt
2300 San Felipe Road
Hollister, CA 95023
