A musical influence in my youth.

Green House In the Trees
We’ve lived for 20 years in this brown stained house and truth be told it was pretty ugly. We now have a fresh new coat of light green paint with cream trim and a new front entryway (portico?). Oh, and our deck is no longer falling down. Thanks to Ray Hall, General Contractor and John Fenger, Paint Contractor and their crews. Here’s a photo timeline (click images to embiggen):
- Old brown house
- Front door
- Upstairs deck
- Portico – thanks Craig!
- Repaired deck
- Primer going on
- A house gets really hot with everything wrapped in plastic
- Finished product
- A clean deck
- Great door color, John
Brown No More
For 20 years, we have lived in a brown house among the trees. That changed today, as John Fenger and crew primed the house for its new sage green exterior. Quite a change and a bit of a shock.

Update: 7/4/14
The first coat of sage green paint has been applied (it’s greener than it looks in this photo).

Green House
Not evil magic, science
I knew there must be a good reason why earbud cords are perpetually tangled. Now this article at Slate explains why.
The research shows that your earphones are indeed spontaneously knotting themselves. Sure, it’s because of their length and the agitation of the container they’re in. But the knots really do form as a matter of physics, not because of your personal lack of neatness.
